Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO chassis and two single-deck buses are found on this stand, the driverbeside-engine position being employed on all examples. Excluding the General model, pneumatic tyres are used throughout. Known as the Express is a chassis having a four-speed epicyclic gearbox. Power is provided by a fourcylinder engine, which develops 40 h.p. at 1,000 r.p.m. Two detachable cylinder heads are provided, one for each Pair of cylinders. These can be removed without interfering with lappets, exhaust pipe or inlet pipe. The crankshaft runs on three bearings, and the magneto and water pump are driven by cross-shaft in front of the engine.

The clutch is of the single-plate type, fabric-faced, and a stop is provided to make gear changing easy. Flexible-disc joints are used between the clutch and gearbox ; on the cardan shaft is a Hooke's coupling with roller bearings and a sliding joint. No centre bolts are employed in the springs, but special clips register with the spring plates. Both brakes operate in the rear-wheel drums, and the wheels run cat phosphorbronze floating bushes.

Built by the Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., is the single-decker 32-seater body. Double seats are disposed on each side of the central gang way, placed laterally, and the windows are of the drop-type controlled by straps. The engine in the complete model has a nominal horse-power of 40, but in the separate chassis the larger type of 45 h.p. is employed.

Known as the T.S.6 is a chassis driven by a 50 h.p. engine, and having the well-known Tilling-Stevens petrol electric transmission system. Behind the engine is the dynamo, and farther back is the motor, on the forward end of which is the lighting dynamo. Final transmission is by open propeller shaft to an overhead worm axle. The lastnamed unit is of the built-up type, and both brakes are housed in the wheel drums. The single-decker L.G.O.C.model runs on solid tyres and has steelspoked wheels at the front, those at the • rear being of the cast-aluminium type. The radiator is protected by a horizontal buffer bar, and there are vertical polished metal strips to act as an additional safeguard. The fuel tank is located at the rear, having a filling orifice of large dimensions, supply being by means of an Autovac tank fixed on the front of the body level with the top of the radiator, feed to the carburetter from thence being by gravity. The side windows of the General body are of the fixed type, but the upper lights ate movable.

Chassis lubrication is by pressure grease gun, and attention has been paid to making the filling orifice for the rear axle accessible and convenient, without involving the use of a funnel.
