Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THERE are only two exhibits on _this

, stand, the only being the 30-cwt. type with a 12-ft. 10-in wheelbase in each case. One is a 20-seater saloon bus, whilst the other is a stripped chassis without bodywork.

The 30-cwt. Gotfredson can be obtained with wheelbase lengths differing from that shown, and various types of axle are also available.

The type exhibited is capable of 25 m.p.h., and has a four-cylinder engine, a feature of which is found in the baffles placed in the cooling system, so arranged that cold water enters directly beneath the valves. The cylinder head is detachable and lugs are provided to assist in its removal. Lubrication is by means of a pressure pump, delivering oil to all important bearings, and the chassis parts are lubricated by grease gun. The clutch is of the single-plate type and conveys the drive to a unit constructed three-forward-speed gearbox with central change. Two propeller shafts are employed with an intermediate bearing and Spicer universal joints. • The rear axle of the chassis shown is fitted with a spiral ,bevel drive and sideby-side expanding brakes, but a Timken axle can be obtained if desired. The front axle is of I section and the wheel bearings are of the Timken roller type. Cast-steel hollow-spoked wheels are employed.

The frame is of sturdy construction, being built of channel members of 1 in. thickness, and the cross-members are well gusseted at the joints. The chassis is supported by lengthy semi-elliptic springs at the front and rear, these being made of heat-treated alloy steel. The steering gear is of the worm and wheel type and is semi-reversible. The standard equipment includes a starting and liohting set, with five lamps and an electric horn, a speedometer and mechanical tyre pump and all necessary tools, including a wheel puller and jack.

The pneumatic tyres fitted are 32 ins. by 6 ins., which should give excellent riding in conjunction with the flexible springing.

The bore and stroke of the engine employed on this model are 31 ins. by 51ins. respectively, giving a cubic capacity of 226 cu. ins. Fuel is fed by a vacuum tank from a main tank placed under the driver's seat. The 20-seater bus Provides comfortable accommodation and should prove a speedy and reliable vehicle.
