Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ACHASSIS, a petrol-carrying vehicle and two buses constitute the Daimler display, so far as the larger type of vehicle is concerned ; the fifth model is a handsomely finished ambulance.

Dealing with the last-named vehicle first, the chassis is of the special ambulance type and has a dropped front axle and font-wheel brakes, the forward axle being rounded at the ends to withstand the braking stresses; semi-elliptic' springs are pros ided all round and Hartford shock absorbers aid the smooth riding of the ambulance.

Th;re are three stretchers provided, two of which can be laid upon the reversible seats whilst the third slides in a runway which is normally held vertically against the near side of the body. Special fittings are fixed for the seats, enabling them to be turned over for use for sitting patients or for stretcher cases. In the forward end of the body are cupboards for splints and medical requisites. The body is by E. H. Pickford and Co., of Sheffield, and is strikingly finished in red and white.

A single-deck bus body by John Buckingham. Ltd., is carried on a C.M. Two Single-deck Buses. A Handsome Ambulance. Petrol-carrying Lorry.

chassia ; two entrances are provided on the near side, the front one being controlled by the driver. The finish is in saxe blue and black and the windows are of the drop type; behind the driver

is a spring-controlled curtain and the windscreen nas a hinged section.

Chassis construction can best be seen by an inspection of the stripped vehicle, which has a specially sectioned engine and visible mechanism in the gearbox and rear axle ; the frame is of the flitch type and the fuel tank.is mounted below the frame, with filling orifice outside the body. No fewer than five universal joints are to be found on the cardan shaft. three being of fabric construction and two of the metal type. Designed to carry a petrol tank and tins, is a handsome red and green C.J.S. model. An interesting feature is the odometer, driven from the rear end of the worm shaft ; the instrument itself is carried on the chassis, drive being by flexible shaft supported by a chain. Bearing r body by the United Automobile Services, of Lowestoft, is another G.M. 30-seater single-deck bus, finished in lake, with two doors on the near side, the forward one being under the control of the driver ; three ventilators are fixed in the roof, and the small windows above the large lights open for further ventilation.

Mechanical features common to the Daimler range of tehicles are the provision of sleeve valves on the Knight system, and a lubrication layout, in which the troughs are connected to the throttle.
