Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFTER discussions between the management of the Co-operative Wholesale Society and the Transport and General Workers' Union it has been agreed that tanker classifications be amended as they affect the wage rates of C.W.S. Creameries drivers. The new rates will be 209s. a week for drivers of tankers up to 1,225 gal. and 214s. a week for those exceeding this capacity. Revealing this, the T.G:W.U. Record says this has been necessary because on some occasions smaller tankers have been loaded over the old 1,400-gal. mark.

The Union has also reached agreement with Tate and Lyle (Pease Transport Ltd.) on the operation of pneumatic delivery tankers. The company has agreed to establish depot training and tests, and fully qualified drivers who have passed the appropriate company tests will receive an extra 10s. a week for those weeks during which the driver has had to operate the pneumatic equipment in full at customers' premises.

Since tests may take some time to complete, successful drivers will receive an appropriate allowance as from, or backdated to, March 29.

Negotiations between the T.G.W.U. and British Road Services have resulted in the differential for chargehands being increased from 3d. to 6d. an hour, and for leading hands from lfd. to 3d. an hour; a revision of junior workers' rates has also been agreed and these revisions took effect on March 25. •

N.R.T.F. Dis'solved THE dissolution of the National Road Transport Federation took effect on Monday last, from which date the transport matters handled by the Federation reverted completely to the constituent members.

A final letter from the secretary, Mr. G. H. Mitchell, to members and interested parties, officially records the Federation's voluntary liquidation and points out that the R.H.A., T.R.T.A. and P.V.O.A. will now handle the affairs of their members individually.

Mr. Mitchell himself is joining the headquarters staff of the R.H.A.
