Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

have been warned by the Department of Transport about faulty Romanian radial tyres sold under the brand name Vic toria. Although the tyres were passed by the approved importer Acrode, they are being recalled as some may have a defect which could lead to sidewall failure.

The DTp says: "This can lead to a split in the tyre which may be dangerous when travelling at speed. It could lead to a loss of control."

The recall covers a batch manufactured in a four-week period in 1987. They are marked 165SRT3D216, and also bear the marking AAA (serial number) DOT N4 49 067X087, 077, 087 or 097.

Tyres with these markings will be replaced free of charge by retailers.
