Advisory' iV8.8 agreed to merge the Scottish Commercial Motor Users' Association„ the Glasgow and District Motor Contractors' Association, the Central Scotland Hauliers' Association, the Fife Hauliers' Association, and, subject to formal confirmation, the Dumfries and Galloway Road Haulage Association.

The new body will be known as the Scottish Commercial Motor Users'

Association; the other organizations to be described as AreaCouncils of the S.C.M.U.A. •Sir John McDonald was elected first president, the chairmen of the other bodies to he vice-presidents and to be chairmen of the Area C01113ciIs. Present officials will continue in office, with Mr. John W. Loudon, 48, York Place, Edinburgh, general secretary and Mr. T. Worsley, secretary of the Scottish Federation of Road Transport Contractors, as organizer for Scotland.

• The new body will immediately deal with a number of important matters affecting the industry. A NEW TRADE ASSOCIATION.

The title and constitution of a new trade organization to be known aS the Derbyshire Road Hauliers' Association,. was decided upon at a meeting of a subcommittee of haulage contractorsat Alfreton, last week.

It was agreed that the county should be divided into seven sub-areas, each of which would have a committee, and would send three representatives to the central committee of the Association. Of these three delegates, one must be chairman of his area committee. Mr. T. Smith, of Matlock, was appointed temporary honorary treasurer.
