I-EMBERS of the tramways corn111_mittee of the Glasgow Corporation have conferred with representatives of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Co. and the London and NorthEastern Railway Co. regarding the position of the railways and the tramways as affected by the unrestricted and growing competition from motorbuses. The conference considered the question of adopting some scheme of co-operation and co-ordination for the control of passenger traffic in the areas in which the railway companies and the corporation provide transport facilities. Eventually it was agreed that the following recommendations should be agreed upon as a basis for future diseussion and negotiation-:— That joint representations be made to the magistrates committee on behalf of the corporation tramways committee and the railway companies with the object of limiting the number of Vehicles to he licensed by the committee.
