Mr. C. T. Humpidge, general manager of Bradford transport department, has been appointed manager of Sheffield transport department The appointment was made at a special meeting of the Sheffield transport committee last 'week when it was announced that Mr. John G. Timpson, general manager of Plymouth Corporation Transport since 1955, had withdrawn on medical grounds from the appointment, made in December, naming him successor to Mr. R. C. Moore who retires from the Sheffield post in May.

Mr. Humpidge has been transport manager at Bradford for 10 years and was previously transport manager at Rochdale. He has also served at Birmingham, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Nottingham.
