Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

with a diesel engine. The top speed is 48-50 mph and the fuel consumption averages about 30 mpg.

Is it possible to change the rear axle ratio, to improve the performance of this coach?

The ratio is at present 6.28 to 1. I have been told that the rear axle of the A55 Cambridge (diesel) taxicab will fit my coach.

ABritish Leyland advises us that the rear

axle of the A55 Cambridge will not fit your vehicle. However, the petrol-engined version of the JU has rear axle ratios of either 5.125 or 5.625 to 1 and these axles can replace the 6.28 to 1 axle at present fitted to your coach.

British Leyland engineers recommend the 5,625 to 1 ratio axle, which should give a maximum speed of approximately 56 mph.
