NISSAN EBRO'S Spanishbuilt JY275 Trade forwardcontrol van goes on sale in Britain next month — almost a year after it was first seen at the Motor Show. It will be pov.,icl by a twc ,ktrc san diesel, coupled to a tiv speed gearbox.

The four-cylinder1,952cc LD20.E indirect injection engine provides a maximum power of 42kW(56hp) at 4,2(X) rpm, and peak torque of 117Nm(86 lbft) at 2,400 rpm. The Nissan gearbox has an 0.81:1 overdrive fifth gear ratio.

Maximum payload on the 2.75-tonne gvw Trade is 1,165kg(23cwt) with driver on board. Its load volume looks impressive at 7.1cum(254cuft). Turning circle is 11.4m(37.4ft).

The Trade has a separate ladder type chassis with semielliptic leaf springs fitted all round and front disc brakes. UK models will be equipped with a side-loading door, double passenger bench seat and front and rear anti-roll bars as standard.

The launch represents a major attack on the British panel van market by Nissan UK, which will market the Trade through over 400 Nissan Ebro commercial vehicle distributors and Nissan car dealerships alongside Nissan's existing Urvan range.

It will also be sold through Nissan UK's own national fleet and leasing company.

Price for the JY275, which is built in Madrid by the Nissan-owned Motor lberica company, has yet to be announced although it is expected to be below 826,000.

A petrol version of the Trade, powered by a twolitre Nissan engine, is currently offered on the continent, and may be introduced into the UK later this year.
