Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The trailer hire company. Articulated Trailer Hire Ltd. is solving a serious shortage of large semi-trailer vans by having Tidd Strongbox vans built on to. some of its existing trailer chassis.

The company has a fleet of some 1400 trailers which it hires out to transport operators. It also has its own trailer sales, repair and manufacturing facilities which trades under the name of Manchester Trailers.

After three years' use all the trailers used by the company are fully recon ditioned as a matter of course. Some of the latest batch to be reconditioned were also extended from 28ft to 33ft length and Strongbox bodies fitted. The first three trailers to be converted have already gone into service. They are single-axle trailers having a capacity of 2100 cu ft and designed for 24-ton-gcw operation.

Articulated Trailer Hire intends to convert more trailers this year but this time they will be tandem-axled trailers extended to 4011 length.
