meeting of the Derby Sub-area of A.R.O., Mr, A. W. Darby, East Midland area chairroan, referred to the part that the roadtransport industry might be called upon to play in post-war reconstruction. He visualized the creation of new garden cities around new industries when war-time plant was taken over to meet the peace-time needs of the country. These cities would be linked by main roads, and the transfer of the people would need transport.
Mr. Darby was elected Sub-area chairman, whilst Mr. L. J. Rix wat appointed vice-chairman, and Mr. J. H. Alien Lion, secretary. Deletes to the area committee comprise Mr. D. Derham and Mr. Rix, deputy delegates being Mr. B. Keeling and Mr. F. Wright,
