• Railfreight has opted for the Royal Seaforth dock in Liverpool as the site for its Merseyside Channel Tunnel freight terminal, the eighth of a proposed nine sites throughout the UK.
Railfreight's other terminals will be at Stratford and Willesden in London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Trafford Park in Manchester, Wakefield and Middlesbrough. It has still to choose between Mossend and Hillington for its site in central Scotland, but hopes to announce its decision within three weeks.
