bus 1-1, operators engaged on a world-wide study tour were entertained at the Road Haulage Association's head office last week. They met Mr. G. K. Newman. secretary-general, and other officials, who explained the British licensing system. transport policy, road programme and other matters.

Afterwards they visited two members of the R.H.A.—Marshalls Transport (Evesham) Ltd. and Chris Miller Ltd., of Preston—and Leyland Motors Ltd.

The party included Mr. C. Cameron, of Mount Gambier; Mr. A. H. Gillot, of St. Ives; Mr. J. B. Loader, of Fulham; Mr. H. J. Lawrence, of East Melbourne; Mr. L. R. Campbell, of Brayville; Mr. S. Foote, of Laurel Park and Mr. T. H. Furlonger, of Morwell.

Their tour began at Hong Kong and has covered Denmark. Germany and France. They left for America on Tuesday.

NEW DEPOT

WATSON'S CARRIERS LTD.. Bishop VY Auckland. Co. Durham, are planning the erection of £50,000 offices, warehouse and ancillary buildings at Spennymoor, Co. Durham. The firm belongs to the Tay-Forth transport group, and one reason for the development is that at present the group's vehicles have to be sent to Dumfries for repairs. About 7,500 sq. ft. of the new buildings will be used for maintenance work.
