The Committee of Management for the forthcoming Olympia Show is constituted as follows : Messrs. Sidney Straker, S. F. Edge, H. G. Burford., G. A. Burls, F. Coleman, T. Clarkson, R Dennis, Jesse Ellis, Edmund Gascome, F. E. Goodchild, and Laurence M iles.

Registrations by the London County Council, for the month of December, have been : heavy motorcars, 42 ; other motorcars, 213; motorcycles, 65. The total registrations from January 1st, 1904, to December 31st, 1906, have been : heavy motorcars, 1,2;3 ; other motorcars, ;1,884 ; motorcycles, 6,593.

Sir J. H. A. Macdonald, G.C.B., is to lecture at the Royal United Service Institution, Whitehall, on Monday next, the iith instant at three o'clock, on the subject of " The organisation of motor transport for national defence." Members of the Motor Union, including members of the M.V.W.O.U,A., will be admitted on exhibition of their cards of membership.

The terms of the War Department's agreement for the registration of all types of utility motors will be found on pages 484 and 485. The committee of the M.V.W.O.U,A., which met the War Office Mechanical Transport Committee, some eight months ago, consisted of the following members Colonel R. E. B. Crompton, M. I ns t. C. E. , C. B. ; Messrs. L. H. Baxendale (Pickford's, Limited); F. C. A. Coventry (Great Western Railway); G. D. Gilbert (London Motor Omnibus Company, Limited); L. G. Oldfield (London Omnibus Owners' Federation); Arthur Paterson (Carter, Paterson and Company, Limited); R. R. Robbins (Wild and Robbins); E. Shrapnell Smith (Hon. Treasurer); and W. Rees Jeffreys (Secretary). The Percy Cycle Company, Limited, of 87, Percy Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne, desires to take up the representation of a commercial motor manufacturing company.

The Car and General Insurance Corporation, Limited, is quoting for all risks under the new Workmen's Cornpensation Act, including domestic servants, clerks and shop assistants, contractors, and carriers, and for all other risks, A 3oh.p. Merryweafner fire engine has been ordered by the War Office, and has, recently, been delivered. It travelled by road, from London to Bulford Camp, where it will be stationed, and it is reported to have given great satisfaction to the officers in charge.

An authorised engineer of the M,V.W,O.U.A. will make a circular inspection tour, in the Glasgow district, during the week beginning March 4th next. It is guaranteed that the charge for inspection and a written report shall not exceed five guineas for any one motor vehicle, and a further guinea for each additional motor vehicle.

Owing to the great success of the Leyland steam motorvans in the service of the Chelsea Borough Council, it has been decided to invite tenders for the sale of 18 of 'he Council's horsed water vans, for which there will be nc, further use. Only six horsed vans will be retained, for the present, for use in cases of emergency or exceptional pressure. The Parsons light delivery van, fitted with paraffin carburetter, is now being manufactured and sold by the Duryea Motor Company, of Coventry.

It looks as though we were fated never to have room for the statistics about the French Trials. There is, again, no space for them this week.

A service of motorcabs is to be started in Brighton, by Mr. Peter M. S. Carmichael, who has decided to purchase his chassis from the Adams Manufacturing Company, Limited, of Bedford.

The baggage in the Scottish A.C. Reliability Trial, to be held from the 25th to 29th June next, both dates inclusive, will be carried by Arrol-Johnston, Darracq-Serpollet and Albion commercial motors.

Mr. Arthur F. Mulliner, of Northampton, has been re-elected President of the Institute of British Carriage Manufacturers, of which Mr. Harold E. Perrin is Secretary, and whose office is at i, Queen Victoria Street, E.C.

A confirmatory, extraordinary general meeting of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, in regard to the necessary alterations of the Articles of Association, will be held at Maxwell House, Arundel Street, Strand, W.C., on Monday next, the 4th instant, at 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

Glover Brothers, Limited, the wellknown makers of the Glover motorvan, have taken possession of a large garage near Holborn, this extending from Mount Pleasant to Gough Street. It is the intention of the company to devote practically the whole of the new garage to the accommodation of rnotorvans, which it is prepared to store, maintain and "job " at fixed rates per annum.

Messrs. Sanderson and Sanderson, of 63 and 65, Percy Street, Newcastle-onTyne, who are agents for the New Arrol-Johnston Car Company, Limited, and Sidney Straker and Squire, Limited, advise us that they have amalgamated theirbusiness with that of Messrs. Henry Agnus and Company, coachbuilders, of Newcastle-on-Tyne. The title of the new combination is Messrs. Henry Agnus, Sanderson and Company.

The t6h.p. Lacre van, illustrated on page 479 is one which has, recently, been shipped to Africa, for service in connection with the South Nigerian Government. It has a carrying capacity of 24cwt., and the body is of polished mahogany, lettered in red, with a detachable canvas top. It wilt be used, generally, for the conveyance of black servants and stores, and it is designed to be suitable for three distinct purposes : a dosed van; an open lorry ; and a char-à-banes. De Nevers, grooved, solid-rubber tires are fitted. Panhard and Levassor, Limited, asks that all communications in reference to its engineering and repair department shall be addressed to the company at Acton Vale, London, W., where its new works are now in thorough going order.

Mr. Georges Van Volckxson, for many years past general representative of the N.A.G. in Belgium, has founded a company, named the " Societe Beige des Automobiles N.A,G.," with a capital of 3oo,000 francs. Mr. Van Volckxson is director of the new concern.

The syllabus of lectures has been issued for the Lent term of the London School of Economies and Political Science. Suitable courses are arranged in the following subjects : Eoonomics, including statistics; -politics and public administration ; commercial law ; commerce and industry ; accounting and business methods; banking ; insurance; transport ; and librarianship. The full syllabus may be obtained by applying to the Secretary of the School, Clare Market, Kingsway, W.C.

Mr. Evorard R. Calthrop, M. Inst.C. E. , M. I . Mech. E., one of the lounder members of the Liverpool SelfPropelled Traffic Association, and a judge of that snciety's trials in Lancashire, who is, also, a member of the committees of the A.C.G.B.I. and M.V.W.O.U.A., has taken into partnership Mr. J. B. Earle and Mr. E. Godfrey Brewer, who have been assorioted with him for some years past. The style of the new firm will, henceforth, be known as E. R. Calthrop and Partners, and the business of consulting engineers will be carried On, as heretofore, at 3, Crosby Square, E.C.

Mr. John Miller, the managing director of the General Motor Carrying Company, Limited, of 293, Deansgate, Manchester, is taking steps to bring about a meeting for the formation of a branch of the Motor Van, Wagon, and Omnibus Users' Association.

Mr. Frederick R. Simms, the founder of various automobile institutions in this country, and the original holder of the license and agency of the. Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft for the United Kingdom, has added "Simms Aero Engines" to the business of the Welbeck Works, Kilburn, N.W. Although it is a far cry to the day when goods will be moved by airships, we congratulate Mr. Simms upon this further example of his enterprise.

A subscriber to this journal, of Melbourne, Australia, desires to be put in, communication with manufacturers of agricultural tractors engined with internal-combustion motors. We are attending to his request in that matter, and our readers will be interested to. note one paragraph from his letter,. which is dated December igth last : " There is a vast business to be done in. this class of motor in this country, if the right article is produced. Steam. cannot be used with safety, on account. of bush fires. The wheels must have wide tires, and the tractors must be capable of hauling ploughs, and other implements, as well as wagons. The soil is tight, so that the heavy steam traction engines, as used in England for ploughing, are not uecessarv."
