• The 1973 annual report of Howard Tenens Services Ltd which will be presented by the chairman, Mr E. C. Morris, at the company's agm on September 19 shows a pre-tax profit of £805,611. This is £103,000 down on the previous year and the chairman explains in his statement that the period of voluntary restraint followed by the imposition of Phase I on prices and incomes caused the reduction.
This is the first fall in profit recorded by Howard Tenens for some time.
Mr N. H. Foster, who was chairman of the company for almost 20 years until 1971, is retiring from the board and will not be seeking re-election.

• Resurfacing of Fenny Stratford High Street will close the north-bound section of A5 between Alsbury Street and Victoria Road on September 18, 19 and 20.
