British Leyland's Marathon range, for gross combination weights from 32 to 44 tonnes, makes its debut today; a 6x4 tractive unit version is pictured here, and an illustrated description of the new trucks starts on page 30 of this issue. For the UK there is a 10ft 3M-wheelbase 4x2 tractive unit and two 4x2 rigids with 16ft and 18ft wheelbases, for drawbar use up to 32 tons; the 4x2 tractive unit has a price of £8720 including fifth-wheel mountings and fully piped-up air couplings. For export markets — especially the Continent — there will also be an lift 8inwheelbase two-axle tractive unit and two 4x2 drawbar rigids with wheelbases of 18ft and 19ft 8in, which all have sleeper-cabs as standard and are for 38 tonnes gcw; and a 6x4 tractive unit for 44 tonnes gcw, also with sleeper-cab.
