Safety Belts: Glasgow Corporation Accident Prevention Committee is proposing that safety belts should be installed to the front seats of all vehicles owned by the Corporation. It is also recommending that safety belts should be made compulsory for all cars and is approaching the Ministry of Transport.
New Workshop: Walter Alexander and Co. (Coachbuilders) Ltd., of Camelon, .Falkirk, has been granted approval for a 121,000 workshop at its Glasgow Road, Camelon premises.
Telephone Numbers Changed: The telephone numbers of A.E.C.'s regional sales office and spares and service depot at St. Helens, Lanes, have been changed. The new numbers are St. Helens 24826-7-8 and 9.
A Record: Exports of Scammell vehicles for the financial year ended September, 1962, were a record. Orders for specialist types of heavy vehicles alone amounted to over £2 m. in value. Heavy and light vehicles and semi-trailers were exported to territories all over the world including India. Africa, Australia, the U.S.A., Finland and Denmark.
Profit Increase: The net profit for the Joseph Lucas (Industries) Ltd. Group, for the year ended July 31, 1962, amounts to £2,610,673, a rise on the amount for the previous year, which was £2.526,350. The net profit of Joseph Lucas (Industries) Ltd.. amounts to £2,007,556 as compared with £1,670,989.
Agents: Thos. W. Ward Ltd., Albion Works, Sheffield. is now sole U.K. distributor, of equipment manufactured by the American concern, R. G. le Tourneau Inc. The range includes fork-lift trucks, mobile cranes and dump trucks.
New Department: Pirelli Ltd. announce that the continuing expansion of its tyre mileage business makes necessary the creation of a new Mileage Department, under the overall control of the sales manager, Commercial Tyre Division, Mr. M. F. Norbury.

Lorry Output: According to a spokesman of Daimler-Benz AG, the Stuttgart, West Germany, manufacturers of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. the Daimler-Benz-Auto Union group of West Germany currently produces some 14.7 per cent of all goods vehicles in West Germany and 9.7 per cent of the Common Market total.
Bussing Shares: The Brunswick, West Germany. goods vehicle and motorbus manufacturer, Bussing Automobilwerke AG, is expected shortly to sell a 26 per cent holding in its basic capital of DM 20 million to the Saligitttr mining and steelworks group, of Salzgitter, West Germany. The latter firm is stated already to have an option on the share parcel concerned.
