Skid-resistant road surfacing called Shellgrip can greatly reduced accidents at junction approaches. This claim follows tests carried out by the Greater London Council. A resin-based compound is applied to the road, gritted with calcined bauxite, and dries in two to three hours. A new Shell film gives information on the problem of polished road surfaces.
