Provincial Traction Co. Ltd., which was recently acquired by the Wiles Group, officially became the Swain Group Ltd. For 35 years the motor retailing companies have been trading under the banner "Proud Member of the Swain Group", In motoring circles and to the general public the real name of the company meant very little. It was always the "Swain Group-. The group acquired its -title" from the founder and its present chairman, Mr. P. F. Swain.
The Swain Group comprises: H. R. Owen Ltd.: Hoffmans of Sheffield Ltd.: Hoffmans of Halifax Ltd.: Thomas Greenwood's Son Ltd.: Winchester Motor Co. Ltd.; Hoffmans of London Ltd: : Gosport and Fareham Omnibus Co.
