Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

read your recent news item on the 7.5-tonne weight limit on two roads in Derby (01119 January ).

I have the privilege to he the Derby City Councillor for Chellaston and Shelton Lock, through which one of these roads, the A514, runs.

The tone of the article more than suggests that the police aren't prepared to enforce the weight restriction. I can assure you this is not the case and indeed one enforcement day has already been held and more are planned.

In any event, my fellow residents and I.particularly those of us who live on the A514, would not tolerate this weight restriction being unenforced.

In order to help the police. many of us are reporting the reduced number of trucks that insist on ignoring the weight limit. And we're also contemplating publishing in the local media the names of companies that consistently allow their trucks to break the weight restriction. I imagine this could be very embarrassing for those drivers who work for high-street retailers, as it will not endear the retailers to their local customers.I hope this helps to put the new weight limit in context.

Finally, I'd like to thank all of your readers who have changed their routes off the A514 through Chellaston and Shelton Lock. It's much appreciated by all local residents.
