Sponsorship of Ford's top drivers in premier UK rallies has been redoubled this year by Eaton's Materials Handling Division. Three star international drivers will be competing in Escort RS1800 rally cars identified with "Eaton's Yale Lift Trucks."
How much more entertaining it would be if they were driving fork-lift trucks. This would offer scope for sporting enterprise that would make professional football look like a game of pat-a-cake.
Rivals could be disposed of by lifting them on the forks and dropping them off the road. A driver baulked by an opponent could trap him under the forks and flatten him. Pole attachments could be used as battering rams and buckets of quick-setting cement could be poured over rivals. This is known as spectator sport.
