Richard E. Bottrill has been appointed Edinburgh Corporation transport manager at a salary between £7512 and £8097. He is at present transport manager of Portsmouth Corporation and it is not yet known when he will be free to take up his new position. Runner-up to Mr Bottrill among those on the short list for the post was William Swan who is Edinburgh's deputy manager. The transport manager's job became available when Ronald Cox was appointed director-general of the new Greater Glasgow PTE (CM January 12).

R. W. ("Mick") Bradley, 55, becomes company engineer for Morton's (BRS) Ltd, Coventry. Mr Bradley was West Midlands district engineer for British Road Services up until the time of their complete re-organization. He started his career in the transport industry as an apprentice with Eastern Roadways in 1935 and he is also a past chairman of the West Midlands Maintenance Advisory Committee.

Roy Anderson, at present operations manager, NBC Central Activities Group, becomes manager designate, Greenslades Tours Ltd, and will take up his post on October 1.

Jack Scriven, transport manager of Joseph Rank Flour Mills, has been elected national chairman of the Transport Managers' Club. He is past chairman and present secretary of the London section to which he has belonged since 1959.

R. S. Leighton has been appointed managing director and acting chairman of William Nuttal (Transport) Ltd.

Harry G. Creasman has relinquished the managing directorship of the Bristol Street Group but remains chairman and chief executive. This is one of a number of changes on management structure following the retirement on January 1 of S. D. Shirley as deputy chairman. Thomas C. Cannon, 44, moves up to a group deputy md; C. B. Justice, formerly group sales director, is now responsible for Welford Truck Bodies, Ford and Chrysler dealerships and Autolease.

Gerry Day of Gardner Engines (Sales) Ltd, is retiring in April after 20 years with the company. Before joining Gardner in 1953, he became widely known in the public transport field through his association with Transport Vehicles (Daimler) Ltd.

R. E. H. Braithwaite has been appointed director and general manager of Walter Alexander & Co (Coachbuilders) Ltd, and will take up this position at the beginning of April.

H. Joy retires at the end of the month. Mr Braithwaite, at present chief engineer of Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co Ltd, will also be joining the board of Walter Alexander & Co (Belfast) Ltd.

George Platts, 29, has been appointed manager of the Scunthorpe branch of Godfrey Holmes Ltd; and David Brown, 26, manager of the Grimsby branch.

J. W. Holt has been promoted Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company tyre sales manager. His previous posts include those of fleet sales representative, manager of fleet sales and manager of national accounts at head office.

Alan Wilcox has joined the North East sales force of York Trailer Co Ltd and will be based at Doncaster.

Tom E. Scharff, after eight years with the Cumminst Engine Co Ltd. has /joined Telma Retarde Ltd — British subsidi ry of Precision Mecanique Labinal — to take charge of marketing. He will be based at Slough.

Robert Griffin, 25, formerly with Cargo European, has joined R. K. Crisp (Haulage) Ltd, the Birmingham-based UK and international haulier, as technical representative with responsibilities encompassing customer recruitment with emphasis on Continental operations. Crisp is a Richards and Wallington subsidiary.

Alan Cathcart, 29, formerly UK operations manager of Hertz Car and Truck Rentals, has been appointed to the board of RenTco Nationwide Ltd as general manager.

R. G. Davies has moved from North Wales to become manager of the new Kenning Tyre Services depot at 337 /339 Cleveland Street, Birkenhead; L. Elliott takes over the new depot at 167 Castle Boulevard, Nottingham.

R. A. Lambert has been appointed systems manager for management services at Dunlop Engineering Group, Coventry. Mr Lambert joined the computer department of the Dunlop Engineering Group at Coventry in 1969 from Dunlop Singapore.
