Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW medium mobility vehicle for military transport applications, developed by Hearncrest Boughton Engineering, is now undergoing trials with the US Army. An example of the 6X6 MMLC chassis, with an integral load handling system, was shown at last week's British Army Equipment Exhibition at Aldershot.

The design, which provides for a 14-tonnes payload at a gvw of 26.5 tonnes, utilises a Bedford TM cab modified to accept a 450 bhp Rolls-Royce CV 8 diesel engine. An Allison HT 750 transmission is used while a 'powershift' system allows front wheel drive to be selected or disengaged for 6x6 or 6x4 operation. Maximum road speed is 55 mph.

Bedford exhibited the first of its new TM 6x6 vehicles designed for a 14 tonnes payload hitherto carried by TM 4x4 vehicles with trailers.

Powered by the 8.25 litre Bedford engine also used in the two axle vehicle, the new 6x6 is fitted with a ZF gearbox and a novel bogie suspension using a chevron configuration spring pack. User validation trials are continuing and it is expected that the first production units will enter British Army service in 1986-7.
