• This year's LDoY special distance judging test continues to claim victims. At the Essex round last weekend 75 per cent of the entry collected maximum penalty points, and only a few drivers earned clean sheets. Own-account operators dominated the event and Schreiber Furniture Ltd had two finalists (Classes F and H) in addition to taking the team prize and providing the day's overall winner.
At Fleetwood two finalists (Classes A and 13) were W. C. Robertson (Carlisle) Ltd drivers and Associated Dairies and Express Dairy Foods took classes C and D respectively, the latter firm fielding the team prize winners and the overall winner.
