Romford Urban District Council is to undertake a scheme for widening South Street at a cost of 172,000. Thia is said to be the most congested street in the county of Essex, and the improvement will not only be of local value but of great advantage to through traffic.
Ratepayers Criticize Municipal Transport.
Glasgow Corporation's transport committee was severely criticized at a recent meeting of the ratepayers in the Tollcross district. It was stated that repeated demands for a municipal bus service had, without result, been made since 1928. Tenants had, however, been generously catered for by private firms until their licences were withdrawn under the municipal monopoly. A resolution of protest against the continued delay was passed.
