Wild says recent claims that the fall in the price of fuel has resulted in increased consumption should be treated with suspicion.

"The consumption of diesel in the first quarter of this year is up 9% on the first quarter of last year, but I take a jaundiced view of the increases," says Wild. "Even if the price of fuel is halved no-one is going to waste diesel."
