LUCAS WILL be exhibiting a wash/wipe system for truck headlights at the Earls Court Show, A twin headlight version of this system will be offered as an optional extra on the new Bedford range.
The device consists of a windshield wiper type blade pivoted at the centre of the lens and shaped to fitthe lens contours. Water to assist the cleaning is provided from jets around the lights.
Optical checks on headlamps fitted with this system have shown that lenses obscured by dirt to give below 20 per cent output can be restored to 90 -98 per cent output in under eight seconds, from within the vehicle.
