• Philip John Street, trading as Vange Service Station of High Road, Vange, Essex has been fined £22,500 for seven counts of offering for sale unroadworthy vehicles (fined £14.000); making a false description of a vehcile (£1.000); seven counts of giving void warranties (£3.500), and two offences under the trades description act (14.0001. The Billericay Magistrates also ordered him to pay £1,050 costs.
The case followed a combined operation by the Essex police and the council's consumer protection department.
