Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I HAVE READ with interest a number of letters in recent editions of CM emanating from the article and comments from Mr Lloyd of Driver Hire Preston.

I have been involved in the supply of agency drivers over the past eight or nine years and have immense sympathy with all hauliers faced with the attitude of the likes of Mr Lloyd.Too many agencies show no regard for the financial implications of rate increases on the haulage industry and seek any opportunity to increase profit margins and turnover.

We hold our own 0-licence for both the UK and Europe. In order to do this we have had to change our own internal systems to re main compliant with the area TC.

We now know at what point it ceases to become cost-effective to put an agency driver into a vehicle; maybe other agencies should learn this or they will end up putting so much of a financial burden on operators that they end up destroying the industry suggest all agencies be required to hold an 0-licence. If they aren't compliant they lose their right to operate, the same as any transport company. If we all had to run by the same rules we might understand the same financial implications.
