THE latest Scammell frameless tanker . semi-trailer is built of . aluminiurn alloy and has a . payload capacity of' 3,665 3,665 gallons of fuel oil. This compares " with a payload of 3,450 gallons with a mild-steel tank of equivalent type. One of these new tanker outfits has recently been built for Shell Mex and B.P. Ltd., the tractive unit being a Scammell 17ton Highwayman with Gardner diesel engine and equipped with a Scammell radial air compressor to provide pressure load discharge at 35 psi. The running gear for the semi-trailer incorporates a Scammell non-reactive four-wheel bogie with air suspension.
