John Barber is still technically managing director of the company. Mr Park joined BLMC last year as finance director. After a spell as finance director of Cummins Engineering he was director in charge of planning, information and control at Rank Xerox before going to BLMC.

Christopher Head, 46, for eight years in road transport in Nigeria joins Southern BRS as branch manager, Amersham. Michael Howarth leaves Brentford to become branch manager of the Keymarket distribution complex in Sunbury. He is succeeded at Brentford by Gordon Whiteheacl, 50, who has been assistant operations manager with a container company.

R. A. Tudhopei md of Container Express, has been appointed group marketing director—south, of parent company Constantine Shipping and International Service. T. B. Paul is promoted gm of Container Express.

Martin Montano has been promoted fleet sales manager of Duple Coachbuilders ; Philip Simons, previously of Matbro Ltd, becomes field sales manager.

I. S. Irwin, 42, has been appointed part-time member of NBC. Mr Irwin, who is the newly appointed md of the Scottish Transport Group and chairman of the executive board, Scottish Bus Group Ltd, will hold his position with NBC until March 31, 1978.

John Vickers, (transport engineer, Royal Insurance Group, Cardiff), has been elected chairman of the South Wales section of the Chartered Institute of Transport.

J. J. Evans, (lecturer, Maritime Studies, UWIST); A. J. Barnes, (assist div manager, BR, (WR)); and E. G. Sladczyk (transport manager, Thyssen (GB) Ltd) are vice-chairmen. A. S. Dredge (transport officer, Welsh Office) is secretary ; and W. J. Passey (assist terminal manager, BR (WR), Port Talbot) is treasurer.

J. R. Hempsall (C. J. Hempsall & Sons (Contracts) Ltd) has been elected chairman of the East Midland area of the Road Haulage Association; R. E. Ward (Glen Hills Transport Co Ltd), A. Garn (Machins Transport (Surfleet) Ltd) and D. W. Crowfoot (Crowfoot Carriers Ltd) are vice-chairmen.

J. A. Isdaie (Pullars of Perth) has been elected chairman of the North of Scotland division of the freight Transport Association. R. Philp (Lammas of IDyce, nr Aberdeen), R. Baker (Burnetts Bakery, Aberdeen) and J, Pert (Montrose Cement Castings, Montrose) are vice-chairmen.
