Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The 49th annual general meeting and conference of the Institution of Municipal and County Engineers will be held at Cardiff on June 21st to June 24th, both days inclusive.

It will be-remembered that a similar event held in London last year attracted a. considerable amount of attention, not only because of the importance of the conference, but also because of the exceedingly interesting demonstration of all types of motor-driven vehicles used f or municipal work. It was held in Lin. coin's Inn Fields, and attracted no fewer than 24 exhibits, which included road rollers, road-gritting machines, tipping motor vehicles and tipping trailers, watering machines, sweeping and loading Machines, electrically driven dust ES vans, fire-engines, police patrol wagons, motor ambulances, truck tractors, concrete mixers, gully emptiers, etc. In connection with this year's event there are eight classes of vehicles or apparatus which may be entered. It is intended to make awards in connection with. the trials and demonstrations should the Council of the Institution consider that the exhibits show conspicuous merit, and, in addition to the trials and demonstrations, it is proposed to arrange for the exhibition of cinematograph films of apparatus and processes which are likely to prove ef interest, but of which it would not be possible to arrange practical demonstrations.

With regard to the trials to which

reference has been made, they will be carried out as nearly as possible under normal working conditions, and in the prospectus which has been issued by the Institution the regulations for these trials are carefully set out showing the heads under which marks will be awarded by the judges. It is probable that the trials, demonstrations and exhibition will be held on Thursday, June 22nd, but the president of the Institntion will have the power to adjourn them -until the next or following day should such a course be considered desirable.

Copies of this prospectus can be obtained from the secretary of the Institution of Municipal and County Engineers, 92, Victoria Street, London, S.W. 1.
