• The Institute of Freight Forwarders is to change its constitution, adopt a new name and introduce a quality assurance scheme based on BS5750.
An extraordinary general meeting held last week voted to widen membership to include all companies involved in international freight movement.
The institute's trade division will be dubbed the British International Freight Association, although the IFF name will be retained for the professional division.
The British Standards Institute quality standard is vital because customers are demanding higher standards, says the IFF's Alec Gates.
