• American truck drivers could face a ban on speed-trap detectors in their cabs following calls by road safety campaigners and groups.
They say the devices serve no purpose but to help speeders avoid the police.
Speed-trap detectors are legal and are used by 80% of drivers in some states. Some big companies, however, forbid their drivers from using them. Police are using hi-tech traps which emit radar beams to "fool" the detectors.
