Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A13 TO M25 BYPASS • The Department of Transport has drafted proposals to bypass the A13 between Thames Avenue, Barking and the M25 near Mar Dyke in Thurrock.

The plan is for a 9.3km dual carriageway from Thames Avenue, passing south of Rainham and Aveley, to join the M25 at juction 30.

Public exhibitions of the scheme will be held on 2-4 June at the Chafford Sports Centre, Lambs Lane, Rainharn; and at the London Fire Brigade Welfare Fund, Avelely Sports and Social Club, Aveley between 9 and 11 June.

FTA WARNS OF DISHFOFTH DELAYS • The FTA is warning drivers to avoid new roadworks at Dishforth at the top of the Al, which are causing big delays. The works are only 20Icm north of a previous bad bottleneck at Weatherby.

BRF BACKS BYPASS ROUND MELFORD • The British Road Federation is supporting both the M6 relief road and Long Melford's eastern bypass.

At the public enquiry in Lichfield on the M6 relief road, the BRF complained about the appalling congestion on the M6 and claimed that a new road could save up to 170 deaths and 6,300 injuries in the next 30 years.

It is estimated that the £3.3 million Long Melford scheme would reduce traffic volume in Long Melford by 40%.

TRUNK CLOSURE IN THE LAKE DISTRICT • The A5092 in the Lake District is to be closed for a month from 16 June.

The stone-arch bridge carrying the road over the river Crake at Greened has to be replaced due to deterioration. The bridge is one of the oldest in the Lakes.

M5 MAINTENANCE PROLONGED • Maintenance work on 4ktn of the southbound carriageway of the M5, between juctions 9 and 11, is expected to take another 11 weeks.

During the work lane closures and a contraflow system will operate on the northbound carriageway with a mandatory speed limit of 80krn/h (50mph).
