JOHN ASHMORE has left a fleet manager's job in industry to form a transport management organisation for West Sussex County Council.
As transport management officer he will be responsible for hiring council-owned vehicles and plant to user departments. The new organisation will operate independently, purchasing its own vehicles and running a workshop with a view to showing an adequate return on capital.
Mr Ashmore was transport manager with NEI International Combustion of Derby, where he was responsible for a fleet of 400 vehicles.
