John McHugh, a director of Leyland Motors and general manager of Leyland Motor Corporation's bus division, who is to take up an outside appointment. There will thus now be one chief engineer at Leyland Motors instead of three, and future section-leader appointments are expected to carry assistant chief engineer titles. Mr. Fryars retains his post of Chief engineer (truck division) Leyland Motor Corporation, responsible to Dr. A. Fogg. Mr. Fryars joined Leyland from AEC, with whom he was an apprentice in the late 'thirties. Mr. Tattersall was a Leyland apprentice and became chief engineer in 1952, subsequently becoming responsible for special projects and leading the team which produced the L.60 multifuel tank engine. John McHugh was another Leyland apprentice, joining the engineering division and later becoming chief engineer of Leyland Motors (Canada) Ltd. He returned to Leyland as chief engineer in 1956, joined the board in 1962 and took up his LMC group post last year.

Geoffrey Moore, domestic sales manager of Vauxhall Motors Ltd. for the past 12 years, is to be sales director of the company with effect from July I, on the retirement of the present sales director, Geoffrey Welby.

Two days after retiring as deputy chairman of AEC Ltd. 65-year-old John Rowley left for

Johannesburg to take up his appointment as a director of the Leyland Motor Corporation of South Africa.

Bostrom Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Northampton, has appointed George Lowe chief design engineer, and John Chisholm experimental engineer. Mr. Lowe was with Lockheed Hydraulic Brake Co. Ltd., for nine years as engineer in charge of commercial vehicle brake design. Mr. Chisholm was a MIRA research engineer.

India Tyres Ltd. has appointed Frank E. H. Palmer, district manager, North London, as manager, trade sales, South region. David Luetchford, previously assistant district manager, trade sales Tooting, has been appointed acting district manager, North London.

F. Drago Volowsek has been appointed managing director of the Eaton Yale and Towne (UK) Ltd. Group. He joined Eaton Yale and Towne Inc. in 1961 and has been chairman, president and general manager of Eaton EjesArgentina.

OBITUARY

We regret to record the death of Mr. Horace Clifford Davis.

Mr. Davis, 63, of Loughborough Road, Leicester, was the owner of Enterprise Coaches, which he established in 1959.
