Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A The Ministry of Transport advises that;- Unless the approach road and the roundabout itself are clear, or local conditions or road markings indicate otherwise, drivers should:—

When turning left: Approach in the left hand lane; keep to that lane in the roundabout and leave by that lane. Use the left turn indicator on approach and throughout the roundabout.

When going forward: Approach in the left hand lane: keep in that lane in the roundabout. Use a left turn indicator at the exit before the one to be taken. If conditions dictate approach in the right hand lane; keep to that lane in the roundabout. Use the left turn indicator at the exit before the one to be taken.

When turning right: Approach in the right hand lane: use the right turn indicator before entering roundabout and maintain this signal while keeping to the right hand lane in roundabout change to left turn indicator at the exit before the one to be taken.

When going forward or turning right: Leave the roundabout in left hand lane of exit road unless conditions dictate use of right hand lane. At all roundabouts give way to traffic already in the roundabout unless (in exceptional cases) road markings indicate otherwise.

When in a roundabout be prepared for vehicles to cross in order to leave by the next exit and be alert for any signals indicating this intention.

in recommending the procedures the Ministry has in mind that the size and layout of roundabouts vary considerably according to local requirements. The principles incorporated in the new advisory rule are such that they can be applied when negotiating roundabouts of differing shapes and sizes.
