Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by John Kendall • Iveco Ford will launch the EuroTrakker heavy 8x4 on/off-road chassis early in the new year. Two engines and three wheelbase options will be offered. EuroTrakker will use the MPC day cab, similar to that on the EuroTech.

Although both in-line sixcylinder engines are derived from the EuroTech range, the 272kW (365hP) version is based on Iveco's 8210 13.8-litre engine rather than the 8460 9.5litre engine as in the EuroTech.

Both models have the choice of ZF 1 6-speed range-change and splitter gearbox or 12-speed Eaton TwinSplitter.

The rear double-drive bogie uses Iveco 452191 hub reduction axles, rated at 21tonnes total capacity, although the UK maximum weight will limit this to 19-tonnes.

Cross and inter-axle diff locks are fitted as standard and ASR anti-wheel spin control is offered as an option.

Of the three wheelbases offered, only the longer two meet the outer axle spread requirements for operation at 32 tonnes.

The chassis is of laddertype construction with pressed steel side-members and rivetted and bolt ed cross-members. Measurements are 304mm deep with 80mm wide flanges.

Suspension is by parabolic leaf springs with a two-spring bogie at the rear. Anti-roll bars are fitted at both ends with shock absorbers on the front axles.

Drum brakes are used all-round instead of the front axle disc brakes fitted to the EuroTech; ABS anti-lock brakes are available as an option. Steel air and fuel tanks replace the aluminium items fitted as standard to EuroTech models.

The MPC day-cab comes with plastic trim and rubber mats to withstand a tipper's working environment—drivers get an airsuspended seat with seat belt as standard.

External equipment includes a tinted sun visor and three-piece steel bumper with fold-down step for windscreen cleaning.

As on the EuroTech, the headlamps hinge out to make bulb changing an easy operation. The cab itself tilts to 67°, using a hydraulic system with servo assistance available as an option.
