Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As one of the prongs of its attack on urban

noise, the Noise Abatement Society has now offered to silence a London Transport bus sufficiently to meet the 80 dbA level which the Society is trying to get accepted. A spokesman said the work would be undertaken by a research and development company working on projects for industrial concerns.

It is understood that LTB is considering whether to take up the offer, as London Transport is currently engaged on bus-quietening tests of its own, and has some buses in service with different types of noise-reducing kits. In most cases the results produce levels below 80 dbA.
