Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EQUAL pay for women bus workers in "-` North-East England is to be demanded by the Transport and General Workers Union. Delegates representing 11,000 workers were told at Newcastle upon Tyne last week by Mr. Lawrence Smith, national officer for the union's passenger trades group, that the North-East and Scotland were the two remaining "black spots" where women workers were paid less than men.

He also said the union supported integration of public transport and this would lead to more efficient serVices and would improve bus workers' status. The union was prepared to have a smaller but more highly paid membership and was aiming to bring bus workers into the £1,000– £1,500-a-year pay bracket.
