Ronald G. Clarke, 45 has been appointed Group Freight Co-ordinator of European Ferries, the parent company of Townsend Thoresen Car Ferries and the Transport Ferry Service. Mr Clarke joined the Transport Ferry Service in 1950.

John Mirams, 41, has been appointed director and general manager of Crane Fruehauf Overseas Ltd, a new subsidiary of Crane Fruehauf Ltd formed to co-ordinate export sales. He joins the company from the Wiggins Teape organization.

Desmond G. Hodges, 50, moves up to traffic manager of Bristol Omnibus Ltd in succession to Bernard L. Rootham, now general manager of East Yorkshire Motor Services.Other National Bus company changes: Brian Barrett, 29, becomes traffic planning manager with Midland Red on September 1. Mr Barrett joined the bus industry as a senior trainee with the Tilling Association and trained with Crosville Motor Services. In 1972 he took up the post of deputy director. Newcastle upon Tyne University Transport Operations Research Group, and in 1973 became assistant study director, Bradford Bus Study.

Brian E. Speller, formerly assistant traffic planning manager with London Country Bus Services, has been appointed commercial manager. Roger Harman, who joined Midland Red in 1952, has been appointed assistant chief engineer,

Robin Westbrook, who joined Midland Red as divisional engineer (north eastern) in 1973, becomes assistant engineer (works). Philip Perkins, 54, previously data processing manager, has been appointed assistant secretary of Alder Valley in succession to John Phillips, who recently moved to London Country Bus Services. Mr Perkins has also been appointed acting secretary of the company pending the appointment of a successor to Norman Keeping.

Bernard Rootham, traffic manager of the Bristol Omnibus Company since 1970, becomes general manager of East Yorkshire Motor Services at Hull.
