Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A vehicle washing device designed to overcome the problem of cleaning where no water supply or hosepipe is available has been introduced by Flexy Brushes Ltd., Glossop. Known as the Aquatator, it is a hand-operated pump which provides a constant flow of clean water to any of the existing range of Flexy water-fed car washing brushes without the need for a mains water connection or hosepipe.

The unit consists of a rubber bulb designed to fit into the palm of the hand and fastened securely between two lengths of small-bore, transparent pvc hose. One end of this is attached to a weighted rubber inlet which contains a filter; this end is placed in a bucket of water. The other end of the hose is fitted with a rubber sleeve which pushes on to the Flexy brush handle.

To operate the Aquatator, the bulb is squeezed so that it acts as a pump to draw water up the hose, into the bulb and then out through the brush, The squeezing action opens and closes non-return valves placed at either side of the bulb. The valves prevent water, dirty or clean, from going back into the bucket when the brush is raised to clean the roof of a vehicle, and, unlike the old bucket and brush method, this means that no dirty water goes back on the car and that a vehicle can be cleaned with the minimum of water necessary to do a good job—an important fact in countries where water is at a premium. With the Aquatator, water is pumped through to the brush at a speed of 1 to 11 pints per minute and either cold or hot water, with or without detergent, can be used.

Although designed primarily for use with the Flexy all-rubber Hosedown brush, the Aquatator will fit on to any of the existing range of Flexy washing brushes. As a complete wash kit, the Aquatator is supplied in a double pack with the Flexy Hosedown under Model No. FA /ID.

The Aquatator pump is moulded in tough brown rubber as is the head and handle of the Hosedown which is strong enough to withstand being run over by a car, For operators who already have a Flexy brush, the Aquatator is supplied separately as an adaptor pack—Model FA/11. Both models are supplied in handy polythene carry packs. Simple operating instructions included in the packs are printed in six languages.

Like the Hosedown, the. Aquatator is intended for-use by the oneor two-vehicle fleet rather than by the large fleet owner and it will be available in garages, hardware shops, chain stores and supermarkets.
