Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Lindsay Clark THE ROAD Haulage Association (RHA) plans to make 12 of its 37 Weybridge staff redundant.

Back-office roles lost include IT, marketing and accounts, which will now be consolidated at the association's Peterborough office, and could see six new jobs created.

Outgoing chief executive Roger King stresses that members' services will not suffer as a result of the changes and that specialist sector managers, international, communications and policy staff at Weybridge are unaffected.

The RHA will consider applications for the new Peterborough roles from staff earmarked for redundancy, but none have yet expressed an interest. King says.

The RHA has made significant payments to cover its pension deficit, which stood at £1.6m at the end of 2007. However the main reason for the redundancies was loss of revenue from the 2009 Commercial Vehicle show, which has been cancelled.

King says the RHA's "prudent" budget planning would not include revenue from a CV show in 2010, he says. "We cannot assume there will be jam tomorrow. If there is a show, that's nic,e, but we cannot budget for that."

Revenue from membership fees and training remained strong, King says.
