Exhibit:Five-ton petrol Chassis; teh.n., two-eylinder Chassis and Laundry Van; Platform Lorry; and 14-16h.p. Cab Chassis.

Berna Motors, Ltd., whose London office is at 3, Lombard Street, E.C., exhibits examples of its five-ton, twoton, and 14-ioh.p. cab chassis.

The five-ton chassis gives the impression of sound, substantially-designed construction, boasting no freakiNh features or extraordinary flights of himgination on the part of the designers. The type of 'final • drive adopted is the internal-tcoth .gear. The differential gear box is firmly attached at four points to the long steel perch-bars, which are made of two channel-section lengths fixed together webs outwards. The engine has four separately-cast cylinders, of 120mm. bore; the stroke is 140mtn. Both sets of valves are operated from one camshaft, and alternating high-tension magneto and battery and coil ignitions are installed. The lubrication system presents points of interest. It is mechanically effected by a toothed-wheel type of pump driven off the camshaft, the pump being fitted to a sump in the crank chamber. The oil is then forced into a separate chamber under pressure, which is kept regulated by a spring-loaded release valve. An oilreservoir on the dashboard serves to replenish the crank chamber, by means of a hand pump under the driver's seat.

Steel road wheels mounted on ball bearings throughout are fitted as stan

dard, care being exercised to take up. all lateral thrust with ample ballthrust bearings. The foot-actuatea brake is carried on the front of the differential ease, and large-diameter band brakes, operated by the usual side hand lever, are applied outside the final drive gears attached to the hind 'wheels.

The Berna cab chassis, which was in arriving, has a 14-16h.p., fourcylinder motor, of 90rnm. bore, and 100111M. Stroke. Three speeds forward, and a reverse, actuated by a gate change gear, are embodied in the usual type of gear box. Front springs 3 feet 2 inches long, and hind springs

4 feet 2 inches in length, all by Lemoine, the celebrated French manufac-. turer, ensure a remarkably easilysprun g conveyance.
