Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If you think you have been sold a dodgy truck, let your local Trading Standards officers know. You can contact them through your local authority.

It [snot their job to get you compensation, but they can investigate and take whatever steps they deem necessary. They must enforce the Trade Descriptions Act, which gives them power of entry, inspection and seizure.

The act itself is not directly concerned with compensation, which is normally a matter for civil law.

But under the Criminal Justice Act 1972a court which convicts a person of an offence under the act may also make a compensation order in favour of the victim.
