THE FAMILY OF a truck driver who died after a road accident in 2001 is suing the company which employed the man who caused the accident.
Allan Murray, a father of three, was 47 when he died a few days after the accident on the Aberdeen-Dundee road near Forfar in Scotland. His truck had suffered a blow-out and was being repaired when Michael Sim drove into the back it.
A year later Sim was fined e750 for careless driving and banned from driving for a year. Forfar Sheriff Court was told that Sim had suffered severe head injuries himself, could not remember the accident and would probably not drive again (CM March 202003).
Now Murray's family is suing Stoke Newington firm Tradeteam for 2270,000 plus costs.
Aberdeen solicitor Malcolm Mackay, of Balfour & Manson, says he is now waiting for a defence to be lodged.
Once that happens a court date will be set, probably in about a year's time, he adds.
