Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Known as the Chekaload, an axle load weighing instrument announced by Epco Ltd. can be used in conjunction with any jack having a saddle fitting of 1-fin. diameter. Two models are available, one with a capacity of 6 tons and one that can be used to measure loads up to 12 tons.

A unit comprises a load cell that replaces the lifting pad of the jack and a gauge that is placed on the platform near the base of the handle. One jack can be employed to obtain the axle load if the axle can be lifted at the centre or two jacks can be used together to lift the axle at its outer ends. In this case, the two readings are added together to obtain the total axle load. Made by: Epco Ltd., Star Works, Leeds, 7.
