Imports of Russian Petroleum.

THE report of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the regulations governing -the construction of taximeter cabs will be in the hands of the Home Secretary in about a fortnight's time.

Rear Lighting in Foreign Countries.

THE Foreign Secretary has promised to obtain reports from His Majesty's representatives abroad regarding the law in leading European countries as to the obligation of riders of ordinary cycles to carry rear lights at night.

Overcrowding in Edinburgh.

Ni-R. 'WESTWOOD having alleged that omnibuses _Land tramcars registered to carry 29 to 31 _passengers in and around the City of Edinburgh were many times crowded with from 56 to 60 paSsengers, with consequent danger, asked the Minister of Transport Whether he proposed to take any action. Col. Ashley observed that the prevention of excessive over-' crowding of omnibuses and tramcars was primarily. ,a matter for the police, who, be understood, had recently been giving special consideration to this question in Edinburgh.
